Description

Hubbard French Double Manual Harpsichord after Taskin, 1977
Hubbard French Double Manual Harpsichord after 1769 Pascal Taskin, New York, 1977. This harpsichord comes with documentation from Frank Hubbard showing that this instrument was built in the Hubbard shop, and sold as a completed kit to the buyer who painted the case and voiced the instrument himself. The harpsichord has 63 notes, FF-g”’, non-transposing, on historic keyboards (not to be confused with the piano-type Kluge keyboards of the earlier Hubbard kits) of Ebony and Ivory, two eight-foot choirs, and one four-foot choir, with a buff stop to the back 8 foot. The back 8 foot choir also has a peau de bufle rank of jacks. The harpsichord has been restrung in Little Falls Brass wire and Birkett P Wire iron wire, revoiced, and is tuned to a 415. It is a concert-ready instrument which would be ideal for an institution or community orchestra. Included with your new harpsichord is a tuning hammer, extra plectra and strings, and documentation from Hubbard Harpsichords and the builder. The harpsichord is painted blue and red and has genuine 23 karat gold leaf adorning the outside of the case as well as the inside of the lid and soundboard rose. The soundboard is unpainted, and has a slight hairline crack in the treble which does not affect the sound. The trestle stand is on wheels similar to what a piano would be kept on. These can be removed if you like, but they do make it easier to move the harpsichord around. Please message me for a shipping quote, or if you require any further information.
